SINGAPORE - Singapore Airshow and Events has appointed Tribal DDB to handle its communications for the next Singapore Airshow.

The event, at which US$12 billion in business transactions is expected to be made, will be promoted internationally using a combination of print and digital media in the run-up to its launch in 2010.

Tribal was awarded the business after a pitch, although it is unclear which agencies were involved. The Omnicom agency will work with Mandate, which has been Singapore Airshow’s agency in recent years.

Tribal’s business director Jimmy Yar commented: "The big aviation players are based overseas so we will be targeting a global audience. Other than targeted publications, digital is the best channel to reach these people."

The Singapore Airshow, which is Asia's largest aerospace and defence event, is a joint venture between the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Defence Science & Technology Agency. It replaces an event called Asian Aerospace, which has shifted to Hong Kong.
