LONDON - The Carbon Trust is launching a ‘Carbon Breakthrough' campaign to encourage businesses to contact the organisation for advice on ways of reducing their carbon footprint.

The £1m campaign, by VCCP, illustrates the business benefits of working toward a low-carbon economy.

The activity, which forms part of the organisation's 12-month campaign, breaks this week in national press and will be supported by online work by Tequila.

The Carbon Trust, which is headed by former Shell engineer Tom Delay, was set up by the government to help UK businesses and the public sector develop effective and commercially viable carbon reduction strategies across all areas of their business, from in-house emissions reduction to supply chain analysis.  It works with 32 of the top 100 FSTE companies.

In March, VCCP beat Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R and WCRS to become lead agency for the Carbon Trust. The £12m account is the first piece of business to come up for grabs since the Trust compiled a roster of agencies in January.

The roster agencies will be asked to pitch against each other for every forthcoming piece of business.
