SHANGHAI The second Asia Luxury Travel Market recently concluded in Shanghai was twice as large as the inaugural event, according to the show's organisers.

The three-day event was held from June 16 to 19 and attracted over 1,100 attendees, including 420 buyers from around Asia and 690 luxury travel suppliers.

Jay Martens, event director for ALTM, said: “We are delighted with the response the show has

received in its second year and believe it has a big role in shaping the way the luxury travel

industry develops in the Asia-Pacific region.”

The inaugural World Travel Awards Asian and Indian Ocean were also held at ALTM 2008 and a range of new products were launched on the sidelines.

“We are seeing more desire from the industry to use the ALTM as a platform to build on their brand,” Martens said.

First-time visitor SJ Lee, owner of The Travel and Leisure Company, a luxury tour operator
from Korea, said: “The fair was very well-targeted.”
