SINGAPORE Upgrading work at Singapore Expo from the second quarter of 2009 until the third quarter of 2010 will see the venue emerging with more and improved meeting facilities to cater to multidimensional events.
This will be the first major renovation work since Singapore Expo began operating in 1999.
Aloysius Arlando, assistant chief executive, Business Travel and MICE Group, Singapore
Tourism Board, said: “The upgrading exercise will not only ensure that Singapore Expo stays
the venue’s flexibility in meeting the changing needs of the MICE industry.”
A key focus is the addition of its 24 new meeting rooms.
The meeting rooms will be fitted with removable partitions to enable flexibility in accommodating groups of various sizes. They will also have new toilets, lifts and escalators.
Arlando said: “Together with the operator, Singex Venues, we will adopt the necessary measures to ensure that it will be ‘business as usual’ and the upgrading works will be of
minimal disruption to visitors and delegates attending events at Singapore Expo.”
The plan to upgrade Singapore Expo is currently at the “request for proposal” stage, hence no
cost figures or location details are available.
The venue will see 24 new meeting rooms for groups of various sizes
