HONG KONG Asia's first chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES) has launched in Hong Kong.

The society is a global industry body representing almost 7,000 event management professionals.

“The mission of ISES is to educate, advance and promote the special events industry and its network of professionals along with related industries,” said ISES Hong Kong president,

Robert Rogers.

“It will help raise the bar of Hong Kong’s special events industry and will change the perceptions of event guests and the general public from seeing event management people as
‘party planners’ to looking at them as event professionals.”

The chapter aims to become a resource for those working in China to find quality local suppliers.

Professional accreditation is offered through the Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) programme.

ISES Hong Kong will hold events throughout the year including educational seminars and industry awards.

Members include event producers, destination management companies, rental suppliers and convention centre managers.

Networking events will be held on the last Tuesday of each month and are regularly attended
by industry professionals.

ISES is also planning to launch a Macau chapter in the near future.
