The Week: People news - Sorrell's pay up to £3.57m

WPP's chief executive, Sir Martin Sorrell, was paid £3.57 million in 2007, a rise of 8.5 per cent on his pay package the previous year.

His basic salary, which has not been increased since 1999, went up by £170,000 to £1,003,000, and his annual performance-related bonus rose to £1.65 million from £1.61 million. The rest of his package came from WPP's executive share award scheme.
