The Week: People News - US polls boost media spend

Sir Martin Sorrell, the chief executive of the WPP Group, has estimated that the US presidential primaries have stimulated media spend by up to $6 billion.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Sorrell said the drawn-out battle between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to become the Democrats' presidential candidate had boosted media spend more than expected.
