NEW YORK - We've seen blogs turned into books, now it's the turn of Twitter accounts as CBS plans to turn the tweets of 'Shit My Dad Says' into a sitcom.

'The Shit My Dad Says' account has proved a big hit on Twitter attracting more than 712,000 thousand followers. Last month its creator signed a book deal with Harper Collins.

The account belongs to Justin Halpern who is a 29-year-old writer and blogger who supposedly moved in with his elderly father.

Harpern said: "I live with my 73-year-old dad. He is awesome. I just write down shit that he says".

The project is to be produced by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick who were behind the long running sitcom hit 'Will & Grace'.

Halpern, who works as an editor on Maxim.com, will write and co-executive produce the script with Schumacker.

The feed has only been up and running a matter of months and was launched in August when Halpern moved from Los Angeles to his parents in San Diego. He quickly began posting the comments of his father Sam.

Initially Halpern followed others on Twitter to help build the feed, but now only follows one other person Levar Burton (@levarburton) who played Geordie La Forge on the long running 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'.

Tweets from Halpern's dad include such gems as: "Son, no one gives a shit about all the things your cell phone does. You didn't invent it, you just bought it. Anybody can do that."

Another recent pearl from Sam says "Oh please. You practically invented lazy. People should have to call you and ask for the rights to lazy before they use it."

While another reads "I wanted to see Detroit win. I've been there. It's like God took a shit on a parking lot. They deserve some good news."
