We7 tops two million members
LONDON - The ad-funded, Oxford-based streaming music service We7.com, founded by former Genesis front man Peter Gabriel, has topped two million monthly unique visitors, following rival Spotify's two million registered UK members milestone in this week.
We7.com said one million UK users visited the website in June, with an additional million accessing We7 tracks through it's 'play anywhere' strategy, which allows music to be shared via key online media partners, including NME, the Guardian, the Sun and Daily Mirror.

Recent exclusive listening parties have included Florence and The Machine's 'Lungs' on the Sun, and Jarvis Cocker's newest 'Further Complications', which was streamed through the Guardian.
Steve Purdam, We7 CEO, said: "Going through these growth barriers is an outstanding reflection of the quality of the We7 service and the desire by the consumer to access and share music in a legal way.
"We have also been honoured to host a raft of massive album exclusives and have created strong partnerships with various key players in media and music."
Purdam said average users visit the website for over 30 minutes, "which provides an outstanding framework" for brands to interact with its audiences.
The website has 4m licensed tracks from all four major labels and hundreds of independents, and has been a strong advocate of indie labels since its inception.
The company has teamed up with the Association of Independent Music (AIM) to provide playlists for Independents Day, a global celebration of independent music, which runs July 6 to 10.
Clive Gardiner, We7 senior vice president of digital music, said: "It is critical that the independent sector gets the same opportunities to enjoy exposure and revenues from new digital services as major labels."
