Orange 'gold spot - Val Kilmer' by Mother London
Orange's latest "gold spot" cinema ad stars Hollywood actor Val Kilmer, best known for playing Ice in 'Top Gun'.
In 65-second spot, created by Mother London, Kilmer sends up his reputation as a difficult actor to work with.
The campaign, which once again features the fictitious Orange Film Board's oily and smug Mr Dresden and his sidekick Burnley, shows the pair forcing Kilmer to reluctantly agree to script changes.
The fictional movie, which is set in the Wild West, is updated to include a mobile phone as part of a crude attempt to insert a plug for Orange into the film's script.
The last Orange cinema ad, which rolled out in May, starred 'American Beauty' actress Mena Suvari.
Prior to this, Reservoir Dogs actor Michael Madsen appeared in a "gold spot" ad in February.

haha...whatever, I am getting tired of those ads...it's too easy, you get a Hollywood personality and everybody is glued to the screen! Everybody can create an ad like that.
well, nobody did it before them
Emilien, i have to agree with you, this campaign is well past its sell by date.
going to have to disagree, this is the best one yet. then again anything with Ice Man would get my vote!
I dont think this is past its date, i still think these guys are funny. It gives orange a good sense of humour about their product. These adverts reinject life into this campaign. I love the other bratpack references to Cruise and Swayze. Its true about the Hollywood personality aspect and everyone can create an ad like that but they are creating it and they stick in your mind. Shame Orange reception is rubbish though. Id never use it.
Yep, good stuff - any character actor who happily takes the piss out of himself gets my vote (yes, I know, he is getting paid, etc, etc) – made me laugh.
the best Val Kilmer perfomance since Thunderheart. And thats saying something
Watched it again and still think the campaign is on a downward slope. Compared with the first three or four ads, the writing in this one just doesn't cut the mustard, and you can see the gags coming a mile off. Just like Val, this campaign has lost it's loving feelin'
I wanted to love this but I agree with most of the comments above .. this campaign is running out of steam. They still look great and make me laugh but it's more of a smirk rather than a LOL laugh these days. The last one with Mena Suvari was average and this doesn't improve much on that effort. I think the last great one was the Michael Madsden one earlier this year. I think they need to freshen the idea up a bit ... it's becoming too predictable.
It picked up before the end. Val needed to do something soon...was the last thing Batman?
He was good in 'Heat' after Batman and 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang', which is only 2 yrs old
He peaked when he did 'Top Secret'
Harsh. The Doors was surely the highlight so far.
