Devon County Council 'plastic surgeon' by RH Advertising

The latest TV ad for the award -winning "Don't let Devon go to waste" campaign breaks on West Country TV today featuring comedian Rik Mayall.

The campaign was created by Exeter -based RH advertising, which retained the Devon Waste account after a national pitch in April this year.

The ad reunited the director Peter Richardson with Rik Mayall, having worked together on more than 20 of 'The Comic Strip Presents' TV comedies.

I'm a bit torn over this one (that wasn't intended to be a pun, honest). I think it was going OK until the woman shopper delivered "Will my shopping be alright?" really badly. It's alright, and it's a worthy message, but I don't know it'll cut through in an ad break. Especially if they're going to get even longer.

My God, do people still make advertising like this? What were the awards categories this campaign won? Presumably the Devon County Council Advertising Awards. Why on earth would you want to send it Brand Republic? I so hope it crops up in Campaign's Private View with someone like Mark Wnek in the chair.
