EDF Energy 'it's not easy being green' by Euro RSCG
EDF Energy created this ad from "recycled" film clips to promote its commitment to reducing the carbon intensity of its electricity production.
The footage includes visuals of flood scenes, an excerpt from JFK's speech stating that our environmental problems are man-made, and a clip from a 1950s government ad urging consumers to watch their meter.
The soundtrack is Sesame Street's 'It's Not Easy Being Green', adapted from the original version written by Joe Raposo in 1970.

Not bad. A good idea and a real reason to use old (cheap) footage.

...exactly the same idea was done for Ecover, better executed, a few years back. Chk the archives,

M S, pl share the link of Ecover
So the machines they used to copy and cut together all the recycled film clips ran on LPG did they?
I like this idea, think it was really well done and im sure it will have a possitive effect on EDF's corporate image.
Its just a shame the device the consumer is watching it on is a percentage of their carbon foot print.
Ohh and the start reminded my of Teeside!
Great concept, well executed..
I never saw the advert for 'ecover' but any positive message about being green that isn't a rant is well received.
We need more of the larger companies to show there ethical stance, as long as it isn't bulls**t to fob us off.
Thumbs up
Lindsey, "bulls**t to fob us off" is very close to a definition for our business. It's called Advertising, if you haven't heard.

the ecover ad was i believe the first it ever made in the uk, and while i dont have a copy, it was made ein early '90's by chiat/day in london. Might be on the web somewhere...
this is my favourite advert.. ever.
By when? 2020. Bet they won't be recycling this message by then, hoping we have forgotten it.
This ad is much like a lot in the States at the moment, a collection of library clips rather than recycled clips.
