LONDON - LookSmart UK has appointed Rob Pearson as sales director to develop and manage all aspects of the web search firm's sales operation.

Prior to his appointment as sales director, Pearson worked within BTLookSmart, the international joint venture between LookSmart and BT. Before that he worked for IPC Magazine's added value department Innovator as sales manager, responsible for both business and team development.

Damian Smith, international vice president of LookSmart, said: "Rob's knowledge, passion and proven commitment to LookSmart will be invaluable in providing our sales teams with the support and leadership they need, as they work towards driving sales in the competitive UK market."

Pearson's appointment follows LookSmart's new focus on providing advertisers with a cost-per-click service that guarantees return on investment through its human-edited search directory listings service used by MSN.co.uk.

"My role is key to ensuring that LookSmart provides relevant and competitive search market solutions in line with the developing needs of the market," Pearson said. "I look forward to advancing LookSmart's position as the partner of choice for advertisers looking to exploit the effectiveness and efficiency of our cost-per-click search listings solution."

LookSmart is listed on the US Nasdaq technology exchange and offers directory and search services. It has a regional office in London, with global headquarters in Australia and the US.
