LONDON - CNET Networks has launched a local version of its global gaming website GameSpot, giving UK and European gamers access to localised gaming content and resources.

The site also gives UK advertisers access to the 1.3m UK gamers that currently use the global GameSpot site each month and spend more than 40 minutes online at a time.
GameSpot is used by 26m gamers worldwide, who contribute content and network with other gamers through the website.
Jill Orr, head of consumer publishing at CNET Networks UK, said: "Research shows us that today's gamers are going online for the information and social networking they want -- and the launch of GameSpot UK provides our readers with the GameSpot experience they already love, with the added benefit of a UK editorial focus."
Vince Broady, co-founder of GameSpot and senior vice-president of CNET Networks' Entertainment division, said: "In addition to the huge population of UK gamers we can better serve with our UK website, European publishers and developers are growing the global gaming market with many interesting and innovative games.
"Better coverage of these developments across the board is critical to our GameSpot audience, and essential to the global gaming community at large."
