Nokia opts for edgy viral to promote open-source phone launch
LONDON - Nokia has created a viral campaign reminiscent of the film Paranormal Activity to promote its new Nokia open source N900 handset.
The went live today and was created by Jack Morton Worldwide. It shows four men discussing what features a good handset has, until one of the men has a violent reaction and begins a strange physical transformation.

Nokia has been working with developers to come up with apps for the Nokia N900, to be distributed through its Ovi Store and Maemo Select, devoted to handsets built on the open-source platform. Nokia says there are already a wide number of games and other apps for the handset.
The viral is being seeded by Diffusion, using its Discover and Discuss software, aimed at UK, US and German audiences. It coincides with the shipping of the handsets, which will cost in the region of 500 euro. It comes with 32 gigabytes of storage, which can be expanded to 48 GB with an external memory card.
