LONDON - Capital One has appointed Dominic Grounsell, the former head of marketing for broadband acquisition at BT, to replace Justin Basini as the bank's head of marketing for Europe.

Basini is understood to have left Capital One yesterday, but will not reveal where his next post will be. News of his departure came yesterday morning when Basini thanked colleagues for his leaving party on Twitter.

Grounsell left BT at the end of March to take up the Capital One post.  He began his career as a graduate in Unilever, working there for four years before joining BT in 2005 as head of acquisition.

In 2007 Grounsell was the Marketing Society’s Young Marketer of the Year for his contribution to BT's stellar broadband results that year.

Grounsell was on holiday and unavailable for comment as this article went to press.
