Virgin Media and Sky step up rivalry with 'reasons to switch' direct response campaigns

LONDON - Virgin Media and Sky have gone head-to-head with 'reasons to switch' direct response campaigns.

Both media companies are battling to win over subscribers from their rivals with press and direct mail campaigns.

Sky promotes its services with the tagline: ‘11 reasons to say hello to Sky (goodbye to Virgin Media)'.

It claims consumers can make cost savings of up to £200 a year on monthly subscriptions by switching contracts from its rival. It then lists free Sky Broadband, cheap calls, TV packages and HD as reasons to switch.

Virgin Media has launched a campaign stating: ‘Reasons to be with Virgin Media? Take your pick.'

Virgin claims Sky's HD channels and call-out charges cost more than Virgin Media's services.
