Nick Giles has quit his role as MD of Text 100 UK after almost five years with the agency.

Giles is expected to start a new venture in 2010, and said he would disclose further details in the coming weeks. He will remain at Text 100 until the end of this year.

After his departure, Text 100 global COO Andrew McGregor will take over the day-to-day management of the UK business in an interim capacity.

McGregor said that Text would be looking to recruit externally for Giles' replacement.

‘It's an opportunity to get some more senior talent into the business that won't just benefit the UK but also strengthen our European credentials,' said McGregor. ‘We didn't want to see Nick go but I certainly understand his desire to pursue his career in this direction. Nick has a tremendous legacy here - he picked up a business that needed a lot of work.'

Giles told PRWeek that he had ‘reached that stage where I feel compelled to do something for myself'.
