LONDON - The West End Marketing Alliance, which represents stores in London's West End, has launched a prize draw as part of its aim to attract Christmas shoppers to the area.

The prize draw, running in the London Paper, offers consumers the chance to win a £5000 Selfridges gift card, theatre tickets, a night at the Langham Hotel and a variety of VIP-themed offers.

The alliance is also launching a number of shopping events in the area. On 28 November retailers will running an “early bird” shopping promotion by opening their doors at 7am. Stores including Jaeger, Liberty and Top Shop will be offering a variety of giveaways.

On 6 December traffic will be banned from Oxford Street and Regent Street and family-themed entertainment will be laid on including magic acts and marching bands.

The London's West End, which brand's itself as “nation's high street” has come under pressure in recent years from shopping centres including the new Westfield shopping centre in West London.
