Egg launches 'hush hush' cash giveaway

LONDON - Online bank Egg is planning to launch a monthly cash prize draw for holders of its Egg Money MasterCard.

The bank has sent out an email burst to customers titled "Shhh - something new is coming to Egg Money" informing them it will be giving away £50 to 250 cardholders each month. The promotion launches on November 12 and runs until January 31.

Cardholders will be entered into the competition regardless of spend. To have a chance of winning the last four digits on the card number need to be the same as the last four digits of the authorisation code. They will be entered automatically into the draw.

The aim of the campaign is to persuade customers to use their Egg Money cards more frequently and for the kind of purchases where customers would normally use their debit cards.
