LONDON - Tesco has tied up with a talent search site to launch a series of mobile audition pods outside its stores.

The ‘performance pods’ will allow Tesco customers to create videos of themselves singing, dancing or performing stand-up comedy.

Videos can then be entered into a competition with 1Click2Fame, which will be offering a series of prizes including cash, coaching and studio time. The pods will also show advertising.

The first pod will be launched at Tesco at the Coventry Arena Shopping Park. It will then be rolled out throughout the chain.

Tesco category director for entertainment Rob Salter said: "The partnership gives Tesco a genuinely unique dimension to add to an everyday shopping experience, you never know what hidden talents are walking in the aisles.

"It’s always good for a community to have local talent to rally around and support. The encouragement that all X-Factor contestants get from their home towns is a perfect example of how a community can come together."
