GMG appoints Virgin's Berkett as non-exec

LONDON - Guardian Media Group has appointed Virgin Media's chief executive, Neil Berkett, as a non-executive director.

Berkett joined ntl, Virgin Media's predecessor, as chief operating officer in September 2005 and was appointed chief executive of Virgin Media in March 2008.

He has more than 25 years' experience in customer-facing industries.

Previous roles include managing director, distribution, at Lloyds TSB (UK); chief operating officer at Prudential Assurance Company UK; head of retail at St George Bank; senior general manager at the Australian division of Citibank; and chief executive at Eastwest Airlines Australia.
