British Airways' O'Brien nets global brand role

LONDON - British Airways' head of marketing for the UK and Ireland, Jayne O'Brien, has been promoted to the global position of head of brand and marketing communications.

The appointment follows a major reshuffle of BA's marketing department that saw the departure of global head of marketing Jill McDonald.

O'Brien said: "My new role will bring together the global brand and marketing strategy at BA."

Her promotion is part of a broader rejig designed to cut costs and streamline marketing, in which BA has merged its global and UK and Ireland marketing and distribution divisions. O'Brien will report to Tiffany Hall, who heads the merged division.

O'Brien oversaw last year's pitch for BA's advertising account that saw Bartle Bogle Hegarty win the work from incumbent M&C Saatchi.
