Emirates develops 'longest ad in world'

Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, has briefed Lean Mean Fighting Machine to create a digital campaign to promote its new, non-stop service from Dubai to Sao Paulo.

A microsite, www.nonstopfernando.com, features campaign character Nonstop Fernando attempting to talk non-stop about Brazil for 14 hours and 40 minutes.

Online ads will run in New Zealand, Australia, India, China, the Middle East, France and the UK.

Emirates has linked to various online locations from the microsite to encourage users to go on a journey and extend their interaction with the brand.

Photos of the ad shoot and images of Brazil have been posted on YouTube. Users can also download a Nonstop Fernando widget. The ad will also air on cable TV, setting an official Guinness World Record for the longest ad ever.

A link to last.fm takes users to a profile page, featuring some of the music mentioned in the video clip. Lean Mean Fighting Machine has also extended the campaign into the social networking space, by creating profile pages on both MySpace and Facebook, while a full, searchable log includes everything mentioned during the 14 hours and 40 minutes of video.
