LONDON - Thomas Cook has handed a two-year contract to Outside the Box to handle its direct marketing business.

The agency won the work following a competitive pitch overseen by Thomas Cook's executive director of marketing, Simon Carter.

Aside from the core Thomas Cook work, the business includes brands acquired by the company as a result of its merger with MyTravel last June including Going Places and Cresta.

Last month, Thomas Cook Financial Services appointed data specialist Jaywing to lay the groundwork for a fresh marketing strategy.

Thomas Cook is currently reviewing its pan-European advertising arrangements with a view to consolidating the account into a single agency.

The incumbent on Thomas Cook's £4m creative account is The Company of Angels, a division of Sweet FA, while MyTravel works with Clear Communications Manchester.

The review is being handled by Oystercatchers.
