UBC extends Trafficlink deal

UBC Media Group has signed a three year extension to its deal with Trafficlink, the supplier of traffic and travel data.

The company said the move was crucial to future proof its Network Drive advertising package, built around deals with 151 UK commercial radio stations, using the barter syndication system which has made UBC the biggest independent airtime sales point to UK agencies.

The original contract between the two, which began in 2004, was due to end in December 2007, but has now been extended to December 2010.

UBC's provides syndicated programme strands to commercial radio groups in exchange for airtime. As well as traffic, UBC syndicates entertainment news and, as announced last week, Sky News Radio to over 250 commercial radio stations in the UK.
Trafficlink aggregates congestion and incident information from police control rooms and  4,000 CCTV cameras up and down the country.
John Quinn, commercial director of UBC Media group, said the traffic service was a key part of its offering to commercial radio players.
"We've been able to significantly extend this deal to future proof what is a key part of the business for us."
