Rocket wins £3m Tiger Beer account

Tiger Beer has appointed the PHD Group agency Rocket to run its £3m media planning and buying account.

Rocket edged out incumbent Walker Media, which has handled the account for the past eight years.

The switch of agencies is part of a comprehensive marketing programme by Asia Pacific Breweries to strengthen the position of its flagship beverage brand within the UK.

Tiger revealed it was reviewing its UK media business after last month's appointment of Young & Rubicam to head its international advertising account.

Tiger Beer's marketing manager, Steven Greaves, said: "We would like to thank Walker Media for all their hard work over recent years. The move to Rocket takes us in a new direction and we're very excited at what this could mean for Tiger."

He added: "Our long-term goal is to become the leading Asian beer in the UK and Rocket will help us in our plans to achieve this."

Rocket's executive planning director Mark Sherwood added: "Tiger is a hugely successful world brand and we are really excited to have been appointed. We hope we can bring a new approach and some new ideas which will help them to further build on some of the great work they are already doing."
