Telegraph secures Volkswagen as Ashes sponsor

 

Volkswagen Touareg is to sponsor the Telegraph's cross-platform coverage of the Ashes, including print, podcasts, email, BlackBerry and the new Telegraph TV format.

The activity launches in print with a 32-page full-colour supplement appearing on Saturday November 18, containing pre-Test analysis. From November 23, daily coverage during Test matches will include Simon Hughes' Analyst column, as well as contributions from 11 cricket professionals, including Geoffrey Boycott, Ricky Ponting and Andrew Strauss.

Online, the cricket channel will become The Ashes channel. Users will be able to sign up to ‘Ashes-On-The-Go' alerts that will appear by 9am via email or BlackBerry. Additional content will be uploaded onto the site throughout the day including live scoreboard, daily streamed audio and video analysis and interviews, and blogs.

In addition, the Telegraph will be showcasing its recently launched Telegraph TV format, which will stream video content into a window in the Ashes website. This is the Telegraph Media Group's first step towards ad-funded content on Telegraph TV, with sponsorship idents and adverts topping and tailing the content. A three to five minute clip will be available on a daily basis containing analysis and interviews.
