Telegraph offers TV online news service

Telegraph Media Group has moved into broadcast news with the launch of an online TV news service.

The six-channel online TV player is the latest in a string of developments at the publisher.

It will cover news, sport, business, lifestyle and an "On This Day" channel featuring footage of events from history.

Sports coverage includes a section on the Rugby World Cup and regular video updates on the Telegraph's fantasy football competition, while the lifestyle section includes channels on travel, arts, fashion, property and motoring.

Telegraph TV News Now, as the service has been named, is one of several online projects the media group is working on. Last week it relaunched its jobs site to carry more advertising.

The Telegraph's web properties registered almost nine million unique users in July, according to ABC Electronic figures.

The publisher's site ranks behind Guardian Unlimited, the Daily Mail's site, Times Online and The Sun's website as the fifth most popular newspaper site, according to audited figures.

The Telegraph also began a shake-up of its online agencies last month, by taking its search account out of Universal McCann and handing it to search specialist Propellernet.
