LONDON - UKTV has promoted Paul Moreton to head up UKTV Gold and UKTV Drama, bringing together the two channel brands under one head for the first time.
Moreton replaces UKTV Gold channel head James Newton who, after two years managing the channel, is leaving the company.
Formerly channel head for UKTV Food, Moreton will take the new role with immediate effect reporting to network controller Matthew Littleford.

UKTV is putting a new emphasis on its flagship Gold channel, having seen a positive impact on viewing figures since the launch of Dave. UKTV is currently looking at giving each of its channels stronger creative branding, rather than focusing strongly on the UKTV network umbrella.
Following a review of the UKTV channel portfolio, Richard Kingsbury, currently head of UKTV Drama, will take Moreton’s previous job on UKTV Food. Steve Hornsey will be promoted to deputy channel head of UKTV Gold and UKTV Drama.
UKTV is also looking at “rejigging” the role of head of entertainment and factual channels when Charlotte Ashton leaves the role next month.
