He takes over from Paul Whitehead, who stepped up to head of corporate and business development for C4 as part of last year's merger of its business development and corporate development divisions.

At Virgin, Stark was responsible for corporate development and video-on-demand. He is replaced by Joe Richardson, who joined as head of content strategy from the consulting firm Bain. As part of its "Next on 4" strategy, unveiled last month, C4 launched a £50m digital media fund through which it aims to produce cross-platform content.
