James Whale to join Bid TV after being fired from TalkSport

LONDON - James Whale, who was sacked by TalkSport on Monday after urging viewers to vote for Tory Boris Johnson, is to join shopping channel Bid TV.

Whale, who is known for his controversial views, was sacked for breaking media watchdog Ofcom's political impartiality rules after he urged Londoners to vote for Tory Johnson in the London mayoral elections.

He will be trading his late night talkshow for selling items ranging from jewellery to toasters.

Whale will appear on Bid TV from May 19 in what is described as a "high profile evening slot" on the channel.

Whale said: "People might be surprised to know that years ago I worked as a trainee buyer at Harrods so my career has come full circle. I'm up for a new challenge and it won't be long before I know more about diamond jewellery, toasters and kettles than anyone could ever imagine."

Andy Hodgson, a spokesperson for Bid TV, said: "Talksport’s loss is Bid TV's gain. We're delighted to welcome James on board and expect him to stoke some bargain-hunting fever amongst our viewers in his true, inimitable style."
