Allan is moving to become chairman and chief executive of MediaCom Worldwide, succeeding Alexander Schmidt-Vogel, who has held the role since 2002. Theakstone moves from his current role as chief operating officer at GroupM.

MediaCom is one of the world's largest media agency networks, with global billings of more than $13bn. The network spans over 100 offices in more than 80 countries worldwide, more than any other media agency network. It was founded in Europe in 1986.

GroupM was set up to maximise the scale and performance of WPP's media agencies by operating on a group basis for activities such as trading, content creation, sport, digital, finance and proprietary tool development. The agencies that comprise GroupM include MediaCom and other WPP agencies such as MindShare and Mediaedge:cia.
