RadioCentre secures podcast music licence deal
LONDON - The RadioCentre has agreed a deal with music industry licensees PPL allowing recorded music to be used in podcasts of radio programmes downloaded from the internet.
The agreement, the first of its kind, will enable radio companies affiliated with the RadioCentre to include up to thirty seconds of music per track, excluding voiceovers, in downloads of their programmes.

Anyone who takes advantage of the deal is covered by a collective licence that runs for a 12 month trial period from 1 April.
Fran Nevrkla, chairman and chief executive of PPL, believes the one-off deal will allow radio to "evolve further as a growing medium in the twenty-first century".
