Last.fm and C4 Radio to create global chart show

by Sarah Crawley-Boevey , Media Week 01-May-07, 10:00

LONDON - Channel 4 Radio has teamed up with international music website Last.fm to create a global chart show.

The Worldwide Chart, to be available at www.channel4radio.com, will be a weekly show in conjunction with the music site, which has 20 million users across Europe, Asia and the US.

Channel 4 Radio, which will gain exclusive UK access to the charts from across the world, aims to create the first music radio show that "truly reflects what people are listening to across the globe", highlighting the most popular artists and genres in different countries around the world.

Last.fm is available in 11 languages, with users from more than 232 countries sharing their music preferences by linking their media player to the Last.fm database.

The strategic alliance will see the parties working to identify new opportunities for music exploitation on digital platforms. Last.fm will be able to track and share the music that all 4Radio DJs are playing, allowing listeners registered on Last.fm to interact with shows and compare their own music taste with that of each DJ.
