Unilever takes on Freud for Marmite centenary remit

PR Week UK 30-Nov-01, 12:00

Freud Communications has been taken on by Unilever Bestfoods as its

retained agency for Marmite in 2002.

The account will see Freud support Marmite's centennial celebrations,

acting as retained agency for the product.

The agency won the six-figure brief on the back of work undertaken for

other Bestfoods brands.

Brand manager Oliver Bradley said: 'The centenary for Marmite is an

important event both for ourselves and its loyal consumers'.

Freud creative director Paul Melody runs the account, responsible for

'strategic and creative input'.

Freud director Oliver Wheeler refused to say whether or not the

centenary year would see Marmite continue its 'Love it or hate it'

marketing strategy, adding that details of the agency's work are still

being finalised.
