The Guardian has unveiled the first of its new Unlimited range of web

sites: Football Unlimited and Jobs Unlimited. They mark the debut of the

new Neville Brody-designed network of web sites, which will be officially

launched in the new year.

The Guardian plans to promote the launch with a week of net-related

editorial coverage in the newspaper. ”The message will be that we’ve gone

massive on new media,” said head of new media Justin Walters. ”It will

make a very strong and clear statement to readers.”

Football Unlimited (www. footballunlimited.co.uk) will be broader in focus

than the earlier football.guardian, covering all the professional leagues

in England and Scotland, not just the Premiership. It will also feature a

network of club sites designed by independent webzine editors.

”We want it to have the scale of Soccernet, but with a Guardian voice,”

said Walters.

The Jobs Unlimited site (www. jobsunlimited.co.uk) will feature more

personalisation than the existing RecruitNet site. The company plans to

sell some recruitment ads separately on the web from in print, in sectors

like IT, new media and higher education. Currently, print and web ads are

sold together.
