LONDON (Brand Republic) - Online auction company eBay has struck a strategic alliance with Microsoft, allowing Microsoft developers to use eBay’s e-commerce technology for business-to-business auctions.

The agreement would help eBay on its way to becoming the “e-commerce engine” for websites around the world, according to an eBay spokeswoman, and would mean eBay auctions could be extended to mobile phones, pagers and televisions.

The financial terms of the deal have not been revealed, but it is understood that it includes sharing revenue from the sale of products and services.
