LONDON (Brand Republic) - German public television network ZDF is abandoning MSNBC.de, a joint venture with Microsoft and NBC, and is instead joining forces with Deutsche Telekom’s T-Online to create a news-based website.

The new website, Heute.t-online.de, is named after a popular German news programme and will be accessible from T-Online’s homepage.

ZDF will not be allowed to sell advertising on the site, but the site aims to boost traffic to T-Online and will help T-Online fulfil its ambition to become a fully-fledged media company.
