NEW YORK - The Interpublic Group of Companies and Omnicom Group are gearing up to fight for IBM's $60m (£42.6m) global PR business as the technology giant prepares to slash its roster from 50 agencies to two or three.

According to PR Week US, the two have begun pooling their various PR businesses internally in an effort to win a larger slice of the account, which was put up for pitch last month.

Within Interpublic, TSI, the incumbent on products and sales, is joining forces with sister agencies Golin/Harris International and Weber Shandwick Worldwide.

At Omnicom, Brodeur Worldwide, the incumbent on software and global consulting services, is teaming up with Ketchum and Fleishman-Hillard.
