LONDON - Beeb.com has appointed interactive agency Profero to work on brand development and a new campaign for the BBC shopping portal in the run-up to the busy holiday season.

Profero will handle the media and creative on the account and will be working with relationship marketing agency Carlson, which is developing the offline work. The new "Robbie the Reindeer" campaign was launched on the site today and includes a downloadable desktop animation.

Beeb.com hopes that Profero will be able to increase the registration and number of site visits in the run-up to Christmas. Profero has also been asked to develop the Beeb.com brand to target "valuable" users.

Regan Hook, marketing director at Beeb.com, said, "With a clean graphic approach and the understanding of consumer online behaviour, Profero is totally focused on the fact that Beeb.com is a shopping site."

Launched in 1997, Beeb.com has become the fourth most-visited retail website in the UK according to Jupiter MMXI.

The latest initiative follows last month's revamp, which saw Beeb.com redesigned as part of an effort to offer more product-focused channels and BBC brands.

The site, which provides a guide to buying more than 1m products, also plans to integrate more user personalisation.
