Rainbow's Zippy returns to TV
for Marmite ad
LONDON - The latest Marmite advertising is to feature Zippy, the loudmouth puppet from the long-running children's TV show Rainbow, and continue the "you either love it or hate it" theme.
Zippy has not been seen on television since a brief appearance in Rainbow Days in the 1990s, but he is best known for his appearances with his mates Bungle, Geoffrey and George in the lunchtime kids show Rainbow, which ran from 1972 until 1992.

The ads will show the one-armed puppet with a zipper for a mouth being offered a plate of toast with Marmite. Instead of eating it, he says "yuck" and zips up his mouth.
It will launch on February 4 as part of a series of three ads to celebrate Marmite's 100th anniversary. The previous ad campaign, created by BMP DDB, showed a man repulsed after kissing a woman who has been eating Marmite.
