It has appointed WFCA Integrated to develop and implement a marketing communications campaign that will run both internally and externally.
It will aim to show football's many stakeholders that the FA is determined to increase grass-roots participation and improve facilities for amateur players.
Steve Parkin, director of the FA's National Game Division, said the campaign would address a major "knowledge gap about the FA's work.
"Football is at the heart of nearly every community up and down the country, and grass-roots football is at the heart of the game, said Parkin.
The campaign's media strategy has yet to be finalised but will definitely go live in September.
The Football Association's previous campaign was a thank you to its corporate partners before the World Cup, at which England reached the quarter-finals.
