NatWest launches student microsite

by Emily Booth, Revolution UK 04-Sep-03

NatWest has unveiled a micro-site targeted at students at www.natwest.com/students.

Built and designed by Zentropy Partners, the site allows users to view details of the new NatWest student package and apply for it online.

When a student applies online and recommends a friend who also applies online, they will both receive a free flight to one of 10 destinations.

There are 1,000 flights available from all major airports in the UK on airlines such as bmi, British Airways, Air France and easyJet. The offer is in addition to standard student account incentives such as a free cash gift.

The site is being supported by an online campaign using overlays and banners on web sites, such as Guardian Unlimited, Times Online, student123.com and studentuk.com. Email and SMS activity will also be used.

David Head, head of internet banking at NatWest, explained: "Students don't just use the internet for research, they count this as one of their main ways of communicating and interacting with their bank. There are a lot of student offers available on the market, and the site is designed to cut through the clutter and make it easy for a very discerning audience to apply online," he adds.

NatWest recently relaunched its Natwest.com site to make it more customer-focused (Revolution, July/August, p5).
