LONDON - Profero founder Wayne Arnold has been elected as the new deputy chairman of the IPA's digital marketing group, succeeding Nick Gutfreund.

Gutfreund stepped down from the digital marketing group when he left his role as group managing director of i-Level earlier this month to pursue a career in furniture and cabinet making.

He will now be replaced by Arnold, who co-founded Profero in 1998 with his brother Daryl. He implemented his first online campaign in 1995 and has worked for clients including Nestle, AOL Time Warner, Lastminute.com and Debenhams.

Nigel Gwilliam, e-commerce consultant to the IPA, said: "Wayne is a very active member of this digital marketing group and being elected vice-chairman is a reflection of this. His experience and expertise, particularly in the areas of online creativity and accountability, make him an invaluable group member as does his ability to make things happen."

The digital marketing group looks at issues surrounding marketing online and via text message and email. It has issued a list of guidelines about the use of mobile marketing.

Arnold said: "The IPA digital marketing group to date has been very important in driving our industry forward. Digital is currently in a very important period of growth and I look forward to supporting the IPA in taking this forward."
