BBC properties dominate entertainment website ratings

LONDON - BBC websites dominate the ranking of the top entertainment sites in the UK this month, with BBCi taking more than three times the market share of its nearest rival.

Heading the round-up is the BBCi homepage, which accounted for 11.28% of all visits to UK entertainment sites, with mobile phone company O2's website, which includes java games, in second place with 3.7%, according to internet research firm Hitwise.

The BBCi Weather Centre came in third at 2.21%, and the corporation's children's websites CBBC and Cbeebies also appear in the top 10 ranking of entertainment sites. Channel 4, in fourth place, took 1.82% of market share and music and entertainment portal Real.com, at number six, accounted for 1.54% of all visits. The rest of the table is made up of sports and betting sites.
