Marketing 21-Apr-04

Real ale is defined as 'a living, fresh beer that undergoes a natural second fermentation in the cask'. The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) says it requires care on its way to, and within, the pub to be served it at its best. - There are 300 brewers in the UK producing 2000 real ales. - Next month is Make May a Mild Month, a bid to support a fading category.

- Last year's Champion Beer of Britain was Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted.

- Spectrum Old Stoatwobbler is recommended for cold nights.

- The Great British Beer Festival takes place from 3-7 August.
