Trinity Mirror loses regional newspaper managing director
Trinity Mirror has parted company with the managing director of its regional newspaper division, Stephen Parker.
No replacement is being sought for Parker and the regional business will be run by the Trinity Mirror chief executive, Sly Bailey.
Parker, 51, who has been an executive director for the past 11 years, has no job to go to. His departure follows speculation that the publisher is considering a possible sale of the division to allow it to focus on its national titles, the Sunday Mirror, Daily Mirror and The People.

In March, when the group released its first set of full-year results since Bailey took over in 2003, the regional division showed a strong advertising performance. It achieved a 4.9 per cent growth in operating profits and ad revenue was up by 2.4 per cent from £394.5 million to £404 million.
A spokeswoman for Trinity Mirror said: "After 20 years of helping to build Trinity Mirror into the UK's largest publisher and as the company enters a new phase of growth and development, Stephen feels this is the right time for him to stand down."
