Fuel wins coeliac awareness drive
Coeliac UK has drafted in PR agency support as it seeks to boost awareness of coeliac disease – a sensitivity to gluten, a protein found in wheat.
The charity has hired Fuel PR on an initial four-month contract to raise awareness among GPs of the disease, symptoms of which include diarrhoea, tiredness, gut problems and mouth ulcers.
Around 250,000 individuals in the UK have been diagnosed with coeliac disease, but the UK could be home to a further 500,000 undiagnosed coeliacs, said Fuel account director David Clarke.

The agency, which scooped the account after a pitch against Shaker PR and the HPS Group, reports to Coeliac UK marketing and comms manager Charlotte Hoare.
In addition to medical titles, the PR campaign is also targeting food-service specialist journalists.
