LONDON - CNN International is to launch an outdoor, print and online consumer campaign for the US elections to promote the news channel in the UK as the network of record on global events.

The ads, created by CNN and creative agency Manitou Design, feature a series of microphones and the strapline: "Who's leading who? Watch the US elections with us."

Below is the company logo and strapline: "Be the first to know. CNN."

Media planning and buying was done by MediaCom. Key outdoor sites being used in London include the City Road roundabout, Great Eastern Street and Billingsgate Market, chosen to reach a key part of CNN's target audience, the business decision maker.

The supporting print campaign will run in the Financial Times, The International Herald Tribune and The Wall Street Journal Europe, with online ads running on Business Week, The Economist and FT.com.

The ads break this week and will run through to the US Presidential election on November 2.

Claudia Coles, head of marketing for CNN Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: "This is the first consumer campaign we've done in this market for the US elections. It is part of our ongoing commitment as a brand to get closer to our audience, and to reflect our credentials as the network of record on events of international significance."
